Come and See
At Lighthouse, we’re disciples who make disciples. Our “Come and See” classes will introduce you to our way of discipleship.
The Fourth Gospel captures the essense of the three developmental phases of disciples in three stories.
First, Jesus is approached by two men who want to know more about his life and ministry and Jesus responds with, “Come and see.” The Beloved Disciple (author of the Fourth Gospel) uses this moment to paint a picture of where life in Jesus community begins. The first movement is one of investigation.
Second, Jesus says to some men, “Follow me.” The second movement, after one has investigated what life in Jesus community was all about, is surrendering to the courageous life of followership.
Third, at the end of the book Jesus says, “Feed my sheep.” This third developmental stage in followership is one of nurturing and caring for others as a leader.
Our “Come and see” brunch is one where we share who we are , where we are going, what we envision the life of a follower of Jesus Christ to look like. We take the time and unpack the Gospel, the Mission and the Community, especially as it relates to San Francisco. It is not a sales pitch. There is no pressure. You are smply invited to “come and see” for yourself. We hope to foster a time of interaction with food, questions and comments.
We are not a exclusive club, we welcome anyone who wants to join to jump right in. On the other hand, we are not peddling a spiritual consumer product, therefore we do not pressure anyone to join us. We believe that is a decision that you and God can make.
Some of the questions we will be answering:
- Who is Lighthouse?
- What is the vision and dream of Lighthouse?
- What is your core value? What is the mission of Lighthouse?
- Where do you seek to bring justice to San Francisco?
- What does it look like to be in community?
- What is required of me, if I want to be a part of Lighthouse?
